Oakland Park

OaklandPark

002Originally integrated as the town of Floranada, the combination of Florida and Canada, in 1925, Oakland Park is one of the oldest municipalities of Broward County. Originally, Oakland Park extended from the beach all the way to what it is today 441. It was a vast area mostly of farmers which was devastated after the hurricane of September 1926. After that, many residents didn’t return to the area, and it was a slow build from then on. Today, with over 31,000 residents, it is situated between the cities of Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors, and it offers a convenient commute to the beach, shops, downtown and entertaining to its inhabitants and visitors.

The city is so integrated with Fort Lauderdale that residents and visitors may easily pass by Oakland Park and think it is Fort Lauderdale. However, Oakland Park offers a quality of life that combines cherished small town values with a new town spirit, wonderful parks, outstanding recreational opportunities, excellent medical facilities, and convenient shopping. With the help of the county, the city is well-known for its strong position in redevelopment, positive grows, and a great community feel. There are many different neighborhoods throughout the city, but mostly, Oakland Park is composed of single family one story homes, many with pools, and some waterfront homes, multi-family two-story buildings and some new construction developments west of I95.
